Ebi fisher

Eleven years ago, I left my homeland, Iran, and embarked on a life-changing journey to Canada as a refugee. Back in Iran, I always felt constrained, unable to fully pursue my dreams or carve out a path of personal and professional growth. It was as though my potential was locked away, with no key in sight.

From the moment I arrived in Canada, I committed myself to hard work. The early days were challenging, but I never let difficulties discourage me. My love for fishing, especially fly fishing, became my refuge and my driving force. In Iran, I never had the opportunity to practice this craft, let alone excel in it. I taught myself, learning everything from scratch, and I poured my heart and soul into mastering this art.

Over the years, fly fishing has become more than just a hobby—it’s my identity. I approach it with a professional mindset, dedicating countless hours to perfecting my techniques and understanding the intricate relationships between water, fish, and fly patterns. Unlike many anglers who explore multiple styles of fishing, I have made a conscious decision to focus solely on fly fishing. To me, it represents more than just catching fish; it’s about connection, skill, and the beauty of the natural world.

Living in Canada has given me the freedom and opportunities I never dreamed possible. The open rivers, the vast landscapes, and the supportive community have all played a role in shaping the person I am today. Here, I feel like I can finally grow, both as an individual and as a passionate angler.

Looking back, leaving Iran was the most difficult decision of my life, but it was also the best one. Canada has allowed me to not only build a new life but to follow my passion for fly fishing at a level I never thought possible. Every cast I make and every fish I catch reminds me of how far I’ve come—from a young dreamer in Iran to a dedicated fly fisherman in Canada, living a life full of purpose and fulfillment
