This season, I used a double-hand rod with a swinging technique on the Vedder River in Chilliwack, British Columbia, and had great success catching steelhead. I started with a T8 tip, then switched to a T11, and finally a T14, adjusting to the conditions.
We went fly fishing for pink salmon at the Fraser River. The location was remote and peaceful, and we fished from a boat, which made the experience even more special. We used the flies that I previously demonstrated on YouTube, and it was a fantastic outing!
Fly Fishing on the Fraser River: A Pink Salmon Bonanza
Recently, we had an incredible fly fishing experience on the Fraser River, where the pink salmon run was in full swing. We used an 8-weight fly rod, paired with a floating sink-tip line, and a 9-foot leader with a 10-pound test. Our go-to fly was a bead chartreuse pattern, and we found success with long casts and medium strips. We alternated between fishing from the shore and from the boat, and it was an absolutely fantastic outing!
This experience really highlighted the thrill of fly fishing for pink salmon, and we can’t wait to share more tips and stories with you!
Fishing for pink salmon in the Fraser River is always an exciting adventure, and I recently had a fantastic experience in the city of Mission. Using an 8-weight rod, I targeted pink salmon with great success.
For this trip, I used a floating line with a sink tip, a 9-foot leader, and a 10-pound tippet. The fly I chose was a chartreuse bead-head pattern, which proved to be irresistible to the fish.
The result? A successful outing with plenty of pink salmon in the net! If you’re planning a trip to the Fraser, this setup and technique might just do the trick for you too.
Today, I headed out to the Fraser River for some salmon fly fishing. I decided to use my own hand-tied flies, which added a special touch to the adventure. The spot I chose was right under the Mission Bridge, a place known for its great runs. The water was perfect, and the salmon were definitely biting! It was a fantastic day out on the river.
Last weekend, Ali, Shahrokh, and I went on an exciting saltwater fishing trip in the ocean. Shahrokh, who was visiting us from the US, was our special guest in Vancouver. We had an amazing time, catching a variety of salmon: three spring salmon, coho salmon, and pink salmon. We also witnessed some incredible whale sightings, including their spectacular leaps out of the water. It was truly a memorable adventure, and I can’t wait to share the photos and stories on my Instagram and blog!
While I was fly fishing, I caught a very small trout. As I guided it towards me in the shallow water, right in front of my eyes, a big Brook Trout attacked and swallowed the fish 😳. It was such an unusual scene for me! I had seen similar moments online where one fish attacks another, but this was the first time it happened to me in real life
On July 5, 2025, I had an amazing fishing experience at Ross Lake, near the Skagit River. I enjoyed fishing both from the boat and the shore. The day was filled with great catches and beautiful scenery. It was truly a memorable day of fishing!
Recently, I had an amazing fly fishing adventure at Roche Lake. My target was the beautiful rainbow trout, and I’m thrilled to share that we caught and released many of them! We experimented with different techniques, which made the experience even more exciting. The serene environment of the lake combined with the thrill of the catch made for an unforgettable day. Stay tuned for more fishing stories and tips!
