Ebi Fisher | Iranian-Canadian Fly Fisher and International Fishing Content Creator

Ebi Fisher | Iranian-Canadian Fly Fisher and International Fishing Content Creator

The Journey of Ebi Fisher

Ebi Fisher is an Iranian-Canadian fly fisher, angler, and fishing content creator whose journey began in southern Iran and eventually took him to the rivers and fishing destinations of Canada and around the world.

His passion for fly fishing started in southern Iran, where he pursued the sport independently at a time when fly fishing was not widely practiced in his local community. Without a local group of fly anglers or an established support network, Ebi taught himself through experimentation, practice, and persistence. He also developed his own fly-tying skills and continued searching for new techniques and ways to improve.

For Ebi, fly fishing became much more than simply catching fish. It became a lifelong pursuit built around learning, exploration, and sharing knowledge with other anglers.

From Iran to Canada

Because of the difficult and unsafe circumstances he experienced in Iran, Ebi eventually sought refuge in Canada and began a new chapter of his life.

After arriving in Canada, he continued pursuing his passion for fishing and fly fishing. British Columbia became an important part of his fishing journey, giving him access to some of the world’s most recognized salmon and steelhead rivers.

Over the years, Ebi developed extensive experience targeting salmon and steelhead and became particularly interested in challenging fish and technical fly-fishing techniques.

Steelhead on a Double-Handed Fly Rod

One of Ebi Fisher’s notable fly-fishing achievements has been successfully targeting and landing steelhead with a double-handed fly-fishing system.

He has landed five steelhead using double-handed fly-fishing techniques. For Ebi, the significance of this achievement is not simply the number of fish caught, but the experience, technical challenge, and dedication required to pursue steelhead with two-handed fly tackle.

Fly Fishing for Tarpon in Costa Rica

One of the most memorable experiences of Ebi’s international fly-fishing career took place in Costa Rica.

Using fly-fishing equipment, Ebi successfully landed and released a massive tarpon that was approximately the same size as himself. Pursuing and landing a fish of this size on fly was one of the most memorable accomplishments of his saltwater fly-fishing journey.

The Costa Rica experience also reflects Ebi’s interest in traveling beyond his home waters to pursue powerful game fish in challenging environments.

Fly Fishing in Mexico

Mexico has also been part of Ebi Fisher’s international fly-fishing journey. During his fishing experiences there, he successfully pursued and landed quality game fish using fly-fishing equipment.

These trips expanded his experience beyond British Columbia and gave him opportunities to fish different waters and pursue different species with fly tackle.

Building a Fishing Community

Fishing is not only a personal passion for Ebi. He has also spent years building an online fishing community.

Ebi is the founder and administrator of Vedder River Chilliwack Fishing Report, a community dedicated to the Vedder River and surrounding fishing areas. The group has grown to more than 26,000 members, providing a place for anglers to share fishing reports, river conditions, educational information, photographs, videos, and local fishing experiences.

Building and maintaining this community has become an important part of Ebi’s contribution to the fishing community in British Columbia.

Fishing Content Creation and Social Media

Ebi Fisher has also developed a significant presence as a fishing content creator.

His Instagram account has grown to more than 116,000 followers, where he shares fishing experiences, fly-fishing techniques, fly patterns, salmon and steelhead content, river conditions, and outdoor adventures.

Through social media, Ebi has been able to share his fishing experiences with an audience far beyond the rivers where he fishes. His content connects his experiences in British Columbia with anglers and fishing enthusiasts around the world.

A Lifelong Passion for Fly Fishing

From starting almost entirely on his own in southern Iran to fishing for steelhead in British Columbia and pursuing giant tarpon in Costa Rica, Ebi Fisher’s journey has been defined by persistence, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

His story combines more than just fishing achievements. It is also a story of immigration, rebuilding a life in a new country, developing a career around a lifelong passion, building an online fishing community, and sharing that passion with an international audience.

Today, Ebi Fisher continues to fish, create content, explore new destinations, develop fly-fishing techniques and patterns, and share his experiences with anglers around the world.

Vedder River fishing with spinning gear for coho salmon

Vedder River fishing with spinning gear for coho salmon

Today we took the boat out on the Vedder River and had a fantastic time targeting coho salmon. Using spinning gear with a 20-pound main line, a 15-pound fluorocarbon leader, and spinners, we managed to land several nice fish. The 7-foot rods gave us good control, and the morning bite was especially active

salmon fishing on the Vedder River

salmon fishing on the Vedder River

Today, Saturday, September12, 2026, we had a great day salmon fishing on the Vedder River. We started early in the morning, around 5 AM, fishing the lower river. At first, we used spinning gear, and I hooked one salmon, but it got away at the last moment. After that, we moved further upstream and switched to float fishing. For that, we used 10’6 rods, centerpin and baitcasting reels, 15-pound leaders, 35 gram floats, and bait for the tackle. Around8 or 9 in the morning, things really picked up and salmon activity increased noticeably. We caught several salmon during that time and had a very productive morning. Water conditions, weather, tides, and fish activity all played a role in today’s results. One interesting thing was noticing how the fish behavior changed as we shifted spots. It was one of those days that really shows how timing, location, water conditions, and understanding fish behavior all make a difference in salmon fishing.

OceanFishing Vancouver

OceanFishing Vancouver

Another unforgettable day out on the Pacific Ocean. We headed out targeting Chinook or spring salmon, trolling with Nubenna flashers and spoons, adjusting our spread between 40 and 90 feet until the bites came. We landed several beautiful spring salmon, including two keepers. Every strike was exciting, every fight powerful, and days like this are exactly why we keep coming back to the ocean. Big thanks to everyone who joined the adventure. Looking forward to more days chasing salmon and making memories. How’s your season been trolling for Chinook?

Joffre lake pet friendly

Joffre lake pet friendly

About ten years ago, I visited Joffre Lakes with my dog Skipper. Back then the park was pet-friendly, and I’m truly grateful Skipper got to experience such a beautiful place with me. Looking back at these old photos always makes me smile, and it’s a memory I’ll never forget. Today, things have changed. Due to increased visitation and the need to protect the fragile environment, dogs are no longer allowed in Joffrey Lakes Park. Visitors also need to reserve a free Day-Use Pass in advance. Joffrey Lakes, also known as Pipi7íyekw, is located about 35 kilometres northeast of Pemberton, in British Columbia. The hike is famous for its three beautiful glacier-fed lakes. Lower Joffre Lake, just a few minutes from the parking lot. Middle Joffre Lake, which is the most photographed lake with brilliant turquoise water, and Upper Joffre Lake, the largest of the three, sitting beneath the stunning Matier Glacier. The trail is roughly10 kilometres round trip, with about 400 metres of elevation gain. It typically takes 4 to 6 hours to complete. The vivid blue color of the lakes comes from fine glacial silt,

sometimes called ‘rock flour’, suspended in the water. Today, Joffre Lakes is one of the most popular natural attractions in British Columbia. So, access is limited to help protect it. But for many people, it’s truly one of the most beautiful hikes in BC.

Fly Fishing at Plateau Lake, British Columbia

Fly Fishing at Plateau Lake, British Columbia

Fly Fishing at Plateau Lake, British Columbia. On our recent trip to Plateau Lake, we had an incredible day fly fishing for rainbow trout. Using a fast sinking fly line, we got down to about 10 to 15 feet, which turned out to be the sweet spot. The best flies were brown leech, vampire leech, and brown Woolly Bugger.

We used a 9-foot leader with4-pound test, and a slow steady strip retrieve with little pauses. Once we locked into the right depth, the action was consistent. We landed many beautiful trout that day.

Plateau Lake is definitely one of those hidden gems worth visiting for any fly angler.

Fly Fishing at Plateau Lake, British Columbia

Fly Fishing at Plateau Lake, British Columbia

Nestled in the beautiful Cariboo region of British Columbia, Plateau Lake is a fantastic destination for fly anglers looking for quality rainbow trout and peaceful surroundings. The lake offers excellent fishing throughout the summer, especially for anglers using sinking lines and leech patterns.

During our trip, the fishing exceeded our expectations. We landed plenty of healthy rainbow trout by fishing a fast-sinking fly line with a 4 lb leader, allowing our flies to reach the feeding zone quickly.

The most productive flies of the trip were:

  • Vampire Leech
  • Brown Leech
  • Brown Woolly Bugger

A slow, steady retrieve with occasional pauses proved to be the most effective presentation. Most of the trout were holding in deeper water, actively feeding on leeches and other subsurface food sources.

Plateau Lake is known for its clear water, beautiful scenery, and consistent trout fishing. Whether you’re an experienced fly angler or just getting started, it’s a lake that rewards patience and proper presentation.

If you’re planning a fly fishing adventure in British Columbia, Plateau Lake deserves a spot on your list. Bring a selection of leech patterns, a fast-sinking line, and be prepared for some exciting rainbow trout action.

Epic Salmon & Lingcod Fishing Adventure Around Vancouver Island

Epic Salmon & Lingcod Fishing Adventure Around Vancouver Island

Some days on the water stay with you forever. I’m EBI FISHER, and along with my friends Ali and Farshid, I launched from Badinage and headed out toward the rich waters around Vancouver Island. We fished in management areas 17 and 12, targeting both salmon and lingcod. Using trolling techniques, we worked the structure where lingcod love to hide, and also trolled gear for salmon, letting our lines dance in the Pacific current. The action was steady, and before long we were reeling in beautiful fish, one after another. By the end of the trip, we had reached our legal daily limits, one salmon per angler and one lingcod each. But more important than the numbers were the memories, laughing with friends on the open ocean, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Vancouver Island. British Columbia never ceases to amaze me. The fisheries here are incredible, and every trip brings something new. If you love salmon fishing, trolling, or just being out on the water, I hope you get to feel that magic too. See you on the water. – EBI FISHER
