Today we took the boat out on the Vedder River and had a fantastic time targeting coho salmon. Using spinning gear with a 20-pound main line, a 15-pound fluorocarbon leader, and spinners, we managed to land several nice fish. Today, Saturday, September12, 2026, we had a great day salmon fishing on the Vedder River. We started early in the morning, around 5 AM, fishing the lower river. At first, we used spinning gear, and I hooked one salmon, but it got away at the last moment. After that, we moved further upstream and switched to float fishing. For that, we used 10’6 rods, centerpin and baitcasting reels, 15-pound leaders, 35 gram floats, and bait for the tackle. Around8 or 9 in the morning, things really picked up and salmon activity increased noticeably. We caught several salmon during that time and had a very productive morning. Water conditions, weather, tides, and fish activity all played a role in today’s results. One interesting thing was noticing how the fish behavior changed as we shifted spots. It was one of those days that really shows how timing, location, water conditions, and understanding fish behavior all make a difference in salmon fishing.

Another unforgettable day out on the Pacific Ocean. We headed out targeting Chinook or spring salmon, trolling with Nubenna flashers and spoons, adjusting our spread between 40 and 90 feet until the bites came. We landed several beautiful spring salmon, including two keepers. Every strike was exciting, every fight powerful, and days like this are exactly why we keep coming back to the ocean.
